Canton Nabs Sixth-Straight Win

The Canton Charge (25-17), powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, matched their season-best win streak by taking their sixth game in a row in a 104-101 victory over the Austin Spurs (19-22) in front of 3,229 at the Memorial Civic Center on Saturday afternoon.

Canton’s John Holland scored a game-high 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting and 5-of-8 from three-point range in 38 minutes.  Kay Felder played 33 minutes on assignment from the Cleveland Cavaliers and scored 25 points with three rebounds and three assists.  Eric Moreland set a new Charge franchise record with nine blocks to go along with nine points, 14 rebounds and two steals in 40 minutes.

Quinn Cook made his return to the Charge after a 10-day stint with the Dallas Mavericks, coming off the bench to score 13 points and dish out three assists in 30 minutes.  Jonathan Holmes had 10 points, seven rebounds and two steals in 34 minutes.  Roosevelt Jones added 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists in 34 minutes.  Today’s win was Canton’s first this season when shooting under 40% from the field as a team.

Austin was led by Orlando Johnson’s 24 points and seven rebounds in 38 minutes.  Cory Jefferson netted 16 points and grabbed seven boards in 27 minutes for the Spurs.  Charles Garcia come off the bench to provide 17 points and 10 rebounds in 23 minutes.  Livio Jean-Charles added 13 points, eight rebounds, two steals and three blocks in 35 minutes.
