Second Half Surge Steers Charge Over Bulls

The Canton Charge (7-8), powered by the NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers, bested the Windy City Bulls (6-9), 94-84, in front of 2,153 at the Memorial Civic Center on Friday night.

Canton was led by Quinn Cook’s all-around performance of 23 points, six boards, five assists and two steals in 38 minutes.  Holland netted 19 of his 21 points in the second half for the Charge.  Roosevelt Jones provided energy with his 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting and eight rebounds in 25 minutes.  Chris Evans added 19 points, nine rebounds and three steals in 42 minutes.  Eric Moreland added six points, 11 boards and three steals in 39 minutes.

The Bulls’ Aaron Thomas led all scorers with 25 points on 9-of-18 shooting and five rebounds 36 minutes.  Alec Brown scored 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting  with five rebounds in 23 minutes.  Thomas Walkup added 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in 34 minutes for Windy City.  Tonight’s defeat extends Windy City’s losing streak to five games, with their last win coming over Canton on 12/9.  The season series is even at 1-1 as the two teams will meet twice more with the next matchup coming on March 8th at Windy City.

Trailing 42-39 at the half, Canton responded well in the third quarter by outscoring Windy City 31-23 while shooting 63% from the field. Trailing 61-58 with 6:05 remaining in the third, a Roosevelt Jones three pointer sparked a 6-0 run to give the Charge a 64-61 lead.  Canton never relinquished the advantage for the remainder of the game, pushing it to as many as 16 in the fourth quarter.
